Colugo
While most of the collections of the Philip L. Wright Zoological Museum is seemingly comprised of long, round study skins and a multitude of skulls and bones, there are a few finely articulated and mounted skeletal specimens that are always a joy to come across. The other day while I was getting photographs for my post on bats I decided to open the cabinet drawer above the one I was digging in and found this gem. I foolishly forgot to write down the exact information from the tag but I do remember it was labeled as a ‘Gliding Lemur’, and a quick google search led me to the Colugo — a gliding mammal to be sure, but not a true lemur. Hopefully someday we will have a dedicated space to display this fine specimen, but until then I will just have to use this blog as a way to share it with the world!
